According to Collins, the book of Ruth is about levirate marriage.  He is wrong, however.
What is levirate marriage?  Where does the Bible describe such a custom?  What is its purpose?  And how does the book of Ruth not illustrate it?
Further, if not levirate marriage, what custom or provision does the book of Ruth positively describe?
