Technology is at the center of our lives in this world. The classroom is no exception to this. The children we teach have grown in a world that is centered on technology. No student learns the same way or at the same pace, but technology will set the classroom at a pace for a better understanding of the lessons. Technology provides help for students that struggles, and there are virtual lessons that provide instruction for them. Students will learn better at their own pace and give them an understanding of the lessons.

What I do when incorporating technology into my classroom work activities is I get the subjects and find online activities for them. There are so many sites that I have seen and I use that the students find exciting for their learning. I use for one, I-ready for math and reading this way they learn their math and reading skills. I have also use Mcgraw-Hill to help with English – language arts skills.

From what I see in the classroom with using technology in the classroom is more fun for them and it makes them want to learn. I have used websites that have made special needs students learn their ABC’s and write their names. I look forward to using technology to teach my students when I am in my classroom.

Throughout the years, I have gotten more comfortable with incorporating technology into my classroom. My first year teaching, I had very little technology in my classroom. I would incorporate things such as kahoot, khan academy, and online math games. Students would enjoy them but I knew I could do better. Three years later, I have much more technology in my classroom. It has become more of the lesson goal rather than something that has a technology piece. Two major forms of technology that I incorporate in my classroom that have been effective are google classroom and google forms. With google classroom, I use it for not only my students but also the parents. I am able to put notes, anchor charts, assignments, videos, games, and so much more on the platform. Students are able to go to their google classroom account at any time and look over notes and videos that can help them with their classwork and/or homework. The assignments that I create are interactive with moving pieces, centers, and more. Parents are able to go under their child’s account and look at their work and/or grades. It allows them to know exactly what their child is learning and completing. Students and parents are also able to communicate with the teacher via google classroom with questions and concerns they may have about a standard, assignment, test, and/or homework. They can use the comment session or they can schedule a video conference. With google forms, it allows you to create quizzes with different formats such as fill in the blank, multiple choice, short answer, and more. It can also grade the quizzes for you (once you have put in the answer key) and put them in a report/grade book. Incorporated technology can and has really improved the effectiveness of my teaching and the engagement of my students.

I am excited to learn about the many new technological tools I can incorporate into my classroom through this class. I feel comfortable with technology and strive to incorporate it in my classroom. At my school, all the high school classes have laptops and do most of their work through google classroom.

In my classroom I have students do all their homework assignments through google classroom. In addition, I try to find fun and engaging videos that help explain difficult concepts, or put a new spin on a topic. I have also started to incorporate reading online journal articles on related topics and discussing how the information fits into what we are learning. I use google slides in my classes as well which the students have access to during class and outside of class. For quizzes I use google forms which makes giving and grading quizzes quick and easy. For reviews I have usually used Kahoot but a coworker told me about Blooket and I recently used it and really liked it.

Having jumped into teaching during the pandemic, using technology has been a must at our school leading me to feel like I have been able to incorporate it in a beneficial way. However, I still try to find new ways to engage students through technology and this keeps me learning how to use different websites and activities. I am not as seamless in incorporating technology as I would like and hope to improve the quality of technological incorporation.

I think one thing that holds me back from going full blown technology is the desire to give students a well rounded education where they have to interact with books and pen and paper. Students are constantly bombarded by technology I think it is good to help them see they can survive without it as well.
