At the beginning of this course, we spent a couple of weeks talking about Marx’s critique of capitalism. As you explained in your assignments for module 2, Marx described capitalism as producing tremendous wealth by drawing workers into industrialized cities. But he also said that capitalism left workers alienated and perpetually poor, channeling most of the benefits of their productivity to their employers. For this week’s assignment, your job will be to assess whether Marx’s characterization was accurate.
