Several proposals have been submitted recently:
· A professor of health and wellness at the local university could provide a wellness program for your firm. The program would include seminars in smoking cessation, weight loss, exercise, back problem management, and stress management.
· A local hospital could run a mental health program, focusing on events and behaviors related to mental health: substance abuse, compulsive gambling, family and marital issues, legal problems, personal financial difficulties, and job/career problems.
· The operations manager has written a memo requesting that a substance abuse program be initiated. He estimates that at least 50% of the absentees are the result of substance abuse.
All of these programs are expected to reduce absentees and have a positive impact on grievances. You may accept zero or more of the proposals. Any costs will be charged to the “Employee Relations / Other” budget category next quarter. After that, the cost will be assumed by the company.
