Take a look at this case, which explains what happens when a defendant receives a summons to appear in a law suit and then either ignores the summons or fails to appear. This is a cautionary tale that explains what happens when your company does not respond to a summons. This issue is complex and certainly demonstrates potential liabilities for businesses when dealing with the legal system. This case also is a good discussion of what constitutes good faith and fair dealing when negotiating contracts. A default judgment entered in this matter. A default judgment is something that you do not want to happen to your company. In your answer, explain what a default judgment is and explain whether there was a breach of the duty of good faith..
