While watching the program you should document both video and audio components. You will then write a two-page analytical paper that focuses on the production techniques used in the program. Directions: * First, select an appropriate ‘Live Event’ video broadcast to study. If you are unsure of what program to watch, check with the instructor for suggestions and guidelines. * Next, watch the episode in its entirety. While watching the program, take notes on the overall visual framing and composition, including specific camera shots, transitions, and other video components of the broadcast. In addition to the camera techniques of the athletes (and other ‘on-the-field’ featured in the program), document the use of supplemental video footage (game replays, interview soundbytes, etc.) and other visual techniques/graphics. * In addition to documenting the video production components, you must also focus on the use of audio production techniques, including any theme music/orchestration, voice-overs/narration, and other sound effects. * Finally, evaluate the overall effectiveness of the program in terms of its audio-visual production.
