While microaggressions impact all communities, this week you looked specifically at the LGBTQIA+ population. What are your thoughts and feelings related to working with this diverse group? The social work profession is committed to serving the LGBTQIA+ population. As such, social work students who struggle with personal or religious beliefs that may invalidate an LGBTQIA+ identity may need to work at separating personal and professional values according to the social work ethical code. This week’s Video Journal is your opportunity to begin examining your values and beliefs in order to develop cultural competence when working with this population.
