Create a community outreach meeting/presentation to a
target audience of your choice advocating for change
related to your advocacy SMART goal. Select a target
audience for you presentation (school board, parents,
community, teachers, state leaders, etc…). In this
presentation you will be sharing your SMART goal,
presenting your research and resources, and advocating for
change in your community or school by developing a plan to
meet your goals. You may use Powerpoint, Google Slides,
or Prezi.
Review the Toolkits below to help you develop your meeting
and agenda
Grassroots Toolkit- Read page 14-17, “Organizing your Community” (Ch. 8)
• Equity Education Toolkit- Pages 12-15, “Tips for Creating Effective Media-Friendly Events,”
“Communications Planning Worksheet,” and “Sample Meeting Agenda”
Youth Activists Toolkit- Pages 13-27, “Building Power” and “Using Power”
Your presentation must include:
1. Title Slide with target audience identified
2. Agenda for Town Hall Meeting
3. Your SMART Goal
4. You must share how this problem relates to a) cognitive b) physical, c) social, and d) emotional
development of a child (3 slides)
5. Include at least 3 in-text citations to support your advocacy goal (from Part II)
6. Share important laws, resources, research, data, statistics related to your problem
Your presentation must include:

12. If possible, create a voicethread/voiceover for your presentation.
13. A minimum of 12 total slides for this presentation
