Make a brief presentation on one of the prescribed readings and lead discussion in at least one class during the course of the trimester (maximum for presentation is 20 minutes and for discussion a further 25 minutes). What is expected when it is your turn to the present and to lead discussion? A two- or three-minute dissection of the reading, asking where it fits the broader topic of violence prevention and intervention. Identify and unpack the core questions / dilemmas in each reading as well as the contribution it makes, or fails to make, to the wider debate. Formulate any remaining questions that focus on critiquing the theories, methods and the evidence. Conclude by reflecting on whether a particular reading makes you look at violence differently?
