Civility is closely aligned with manners, with respect, with courtesy. To learn how to disagree without being disagreeable. Civility is about treating others as you would like others to treat you.

them. Similarly, opinion pages of major newspapers that provide a space for independent editorials should include a wide range of perspectives. Where something offends some in the
community the correct response is not to rescind an invitation or shout down a speech or refuse too publish an opinion piece but to offer an opportunity for rebuttal and debate and, ideally, leaning.
