PowerPoint Presentation of Field Agency Analysis – Using your agency assessment paper as a guide, you will present your proposed practicum agency or service site via PowerPoint voiceover. The depth of the presentation is to extend the information shared on the agency beyond what was covered in the paper. This presentation must demonstrate your ability to apply knowledge from the professional foundation, social work values, ethics, and skills to practicum experiences.
It will begin with a summarization of the following:
The history and mission of the agency
Discussion of the linkages between and among departments/personnel within the agency (what other personnel work at this agency and how do they work with the social workers to provide services needed for the clients)
Explanation of social work roles and positions within the organization (what all do social workers do at the agency? Are there different roles they can be hired for at the agency?)
A detailed discussion of your proposed area of placement (what would your role be as an intern at the agency – what type of tasks would you complete?), learning goals and objectives (what do you hope to learn from your internship? What goals do you plan to accomplish?)
Perception of preparedness for the Practicum Placement Opportunity (how prepared do you feel to enter the field as an intern at this point?). Also, please explain your feelings in general about entering the field at this time.
Make sure you do not put too much information on each slide. It is okay to break this up.  Each of you will create a PowerPoint presentation with the information above. You will do a voiceover through PowerPoint where I would like for you to elaborate on your points which means you do not have to have everything listed on your slides. Also, please do not read off of your slides as I will be able to tell if you are. Know your information enough to just talk to me about your agency. This will be part of the grading for this assignment.

Agency History
? Established in 1789 as a colonial office (Wayne
County, 2024).
? The agency is the oldest local prosecutor office in
the U.S. directly linked to English Common Law.
? Initially known as “Solicitor-General Office”
? In 1968, the title changed to “District Attorney
Office”
? Today, the Wayne County District Attorney’s Office
operates within the Brunswick Judicial Circuit.
? Keith Higgins is the current District Attorney since
January 2021 (Higgins, 2021)

Mission Statement – To seek justice, act with integrity, and provide ethical, competent
and professional service to the citizens of the Brunswick Judicial Circuit and the State of

Interdepartmental Collaboration
? The DAO has 52 full-time employees comprising victim advocates,
prosecuting attorneys, legal assistants, investigators, and other
administrative staff (Higgins, 2021).
? Victim Advocates – Victim advocates collaborate with social workers
in offering emotional support, resource referrals, and guidance to
individuals impacted by crime, creating holistic support systems for
victims.
? Investigators – The investigators gather evidence and build cases.
During this process, social workers share information involving
vulnerable populations.
? Legal Assistants and Prosecuting Attorneys – They communicate and
collaborate with social workers, providing insights into clients’ social
histories or contextual information relevant to court proceedings or
sentencing recommendations.
? Executive/Administrative Staff – The Victim-Witness Assistance Program
Director oversees victim support services and collaborates with social
workers on program development and resource sharing.

Victim Advocacy Department
? Purpose – to support and empower individuals impacted by crime within the
Brunswick Judicial Circuit.
? Population – victims of domestic violence, child abuse, sexual assault, and
elder abuse.
? Key role – liaise between victims and the judicial system.
? Collaboration – The victim advocates collaborate with other departments to
create a holistic approach to victim support within the justice system (About,
n.d.; Higgins, 2021).
Intern Roles
? My roles as an intern at the Victim Advocacy Department would include:

Supporting victims of crime

Working closely with experienced victim advocates.
iii. Conducting outreach
iv. Providing information to victims about their rights, case status, and
available services.
