Discussion: Presentation of Research Results

Discussion: Presentation of Research Results

Discussion: Presentation of Research Results
Week 5 Discussion PRESENTATION OF RESEARCH RESULTS

THIS IS A REWRITE GUIDE ONLY……

I think my research topic would be surrounding the deaths of individuals while in the

custody of law enforcement officials in the past 10 years. Instances where people where people

have died in custody crosses color lines and lines of jurisdiction. Obtaining accurate information

as to the number of people and the causes, be it self-inflicted, medical, or possibly by nefarious

means; there should be honest research in order present to communities, fellow law enforcement

officials and politicians alike.

My method of presentation would be simple, yet effective. Timeline bar graphs would be

an easy way to illustrate my point. Be it an increase or decrease in deaths of people in custody

would paint the portrait, (ncbi.nlm.nih.gov, n. d.).

Although, to better illustrate my research further, I would utilize a compressed frequency

display to present more specific information like sex of the deceased, age, race, cause of death

and location of death, (jail, patrol car, prison, etc.).

One of the biggest challenges I see with trying to get information like this out to a wider

audience would simply be financing. Doing research like this takes not only time, but it takes a

considerable amount of money to travel and gather enough information accurately to get

consistent analysis. Without proper funding, the research itself could be incomplete. Perhaps

engaging with criminal justice programs at universities would be a good way to display one’s

research and get their information out to the masses. But again, even when volunteering to

research and present this information if you did have the audience; would still take money.
