Income inequality and poverty
Social Problems Project Assignment 4
Feel free to revise the design of this power point to make it your own. This is a template intended to help you with the format and structure of the assignment and overall project.
Summarization
INSTRUCTIONS (remove before submitting):
On this slide, summarize your overall findings from projects 2 and 3 regarding the existence and variation by demographic characteristics (such as race and ethnicity, gender, age, region, etc) of economic inequality and poverty.
Do not repeat the data from your previous projects but rather summarize, in your own words, what you learned about the topic.
instructions
For this portion of your project, you will find resources on your own that discuss what is being done in the United States to address the social problem of income inequality and poverty.
You must find one thing, at a minimum, that is being done at the federal level, state level, and local level. Thus, you will discuss three different things beings done to attempt to solve the social problem.
You must discuss the agency, organization or company that is doing the work (i.e. name and describe the federal, state or local agency or company). Is it public or private, etc.
Discuss specifically what they are doing to address the problem. Be specific and do not take a minimalistic approach. What successes have they had? What failures or challenges?
Proper and complete citations of your sources are required.
Instructions continued
To determine if something is a federal, state, or local solution, think about the following things:
Who developed the solution?
Who sponsors or funds the solution?
Who is responsible for administering/running the solution? Some programs are partially funded by the federal government, but that is the extent of the federal level involvementthe money is given to the states to develop and administer a program. Thus that would be a state level solution, not federal.
Federal level solutions

analysis
Finally, present an idea that might also be tried to solve the problem and discuss why you think it might help. This must be different from the ones youve talked about previously.
What are some of the challenges to solving the problem?
For each solution, discuss any additional problems the solution may have unintentionally created (if you can find one reported or if there is one that you think it might create).
