Discussion 1: Summarize Rousseau

· Using the chapter, “Evaluating Ideas,” as a guide,

· please read, annotate, and summarize Jean-Jacque Rousseau’s “The Origin of Civil Society

As you are reading, annotate the chapter. Specifically, in the margin of the chapter summarize the main idea of each paragraph in one phrase or sentence.

Of course, as you read, make any other notes to yourself that will help you understand the chapter. Underline passages, circle unfamiliar words, and write questions to yourself. Or any other thoughts that come up.

Create a list of each paragraph’s main ideas in order. Such as:
