One of the most difficult things for determining an anthrax case versus other illnesses is the rarity of anthrax infection.  Physicians will not expect it and will likely misdiagnose anthrax as something else.  Once anthrax is diagnosed, it will be difficult to determine whether the infection is naturally occurring or due to bioterrorism.
