The instructor shall discuss the original intent of the HIPAA Legislation. This shall be followed by a discussion of patient rights to privacy and the rights governing the disclosure of patient related information. Following the presentation, each student will submit a two page summary of the legal requirements under HIPAA governing the dissemination of patient information.
