Following the arrival of teams of terrorists that committed the 9/11 terrorist attacks, the stand up of the Department of Homeland Security represented the consolidation of all the critical elements regulating the entry of foreign citizens in to the US. The one exception to the new singular agency was the decision to keep foreign citizen non-immigrant visa decisions to the visa units of the Department of State. Do you think there is a greater case for the diplomatic service to continue to handle visa interviews abroad or creating a single department overseeing all aspects of the permission to enter the US?
