PART 1
In Michigan, we have legalized the recreational and medicinal use of Marijuana, however it is still illegal for a person under 21-years old, and who are not prescribed it for medical reasons. This will change the supply and create more access to marijuana.
For this discussion, please answer the following prompts in your initial post:
· How will this impact behavior patterns of drug-involved youths?
· How will this impact major drug-control strategies?
· What impact will this have on the relationship between drug use and delinquency?
· Will this have a positive or negative impact on the drug problem among American youth today? Why?
PART 2
In this module, we explored the area of drugs and delinquency. After reading Chapter 11 and familiarizing yourself with the chapter concepts,
Read the Case Profile Fernandos Story (PAGE 431). Focus on how the chapter concepts could explain aspects of Fernandos delinquency. Also, conduct further research, through credible sources , to develop a deeper understanding of the factors that may have contributed to his actions.
You should take a thoughtful and analytical approach to the issues raised in the case study and by the additional resources in order to prepare yourself to answer the questions posed in the critical thinking portion of the case study. Address the following prompts:
1. Based on the information you read in this chapter, list the reasons why Fernando may have abused alcohol and drugs? What were the key family factors that may have played a role?
2. Although there was progress in the case, involved team members continued to have concerns for Fernando and his siblings. What could have been done to address these concerns? Do you think Fernando should have been removed from his parental home? How would have this impacted his situation?
3. If you were going to use a multisystemic treatment approach with Fernando, whom would it involve and what issues would you plan to address? Do you think this approach could be successful in this case? Why or why not?
