(2014) discussed leadership is needed to Avoid threats, understand purpose and toachieve.Here are two leadership theories I choose to discuss.Participative LeadershipAutocratic LeadershipParticipative Leadership: In participative leadership, the leader values teams contribution.Excellent decision can be made. Of course the leader has the more power. The leader gets fromthe team skills and ideas to make decision. Ideas from teams that may be different enrich thedecision to be better.However, it is time consuming to bring the whole team on two unified view. It is also difficult toharmonise ideas and get consensus.Autocratic Leadership: In an autocratic leadership, a leader has absolute authority and controlover decision making. This may be time efficient and easy. However, decisions may be shallowas team contribution is hardly encouraged.This kind of leadership is used when control is very much needed. Eg. Military, constructionAlthough both leadership theories are useful in some ways, they have their own shortcomings. Ipersonally agree in places like military construction or small businesses Participative Theorycannot be effective. Participative leadership style may expose organizations to lose control ofmanagement or administrations and expose them to complete chaos.Autocratic Leadership has also its own limitations, It is always true more heads specially when itis diversified in terms of all categories yields more ideas.
