There are more than 20airlines operating within the United States. Small companies like Jet Blue, Southwest, competing with Delta and United. Jet Blue, for example, delivers excellent products topassengers, reasonable airfares and providing services to destinations thatmainline/legacy carriers have no interest providing services to, like small regionalairports. Those low-cost carriers"JetBlue, SouthWest" took a risk by competing with bigwell-respected airlines. They were able to take flying away from United and Delta, nowJB and SW are expanding in fleets and hiring more people.Metacognition:After reading chapter 1. I came to the conclusion that management is not quite an easyjob. There are various of challenges; that will be imposed upon the management, duringtheir career. Not anyone can be a successful manager; it takes lots of thinking, risk taking, and decision making, which could lead to success and prosperity or it could fail.Chapter 14.Key points:leadership is the ability to influence employees to pursue organizational goals voluntarilyManager and leader: Not the always the same.Leadership and Influence: Using Persuasion to get the job done.Connections:I haven’t been in a position of leadership not yet. But in my line of work, I worked forleaders and visionaries, in which their leadership has inspired and influenced generationsof people. At my company our CEO always strive for more opportunities, involving theairlines industry, like bidding for a better contract. To improve the working conditionsand the quality of employees live, that’s a leader, keeping the company running andprosper. And give employees reasons to work and have a purpose and be happy. For thatreason, my company is moving along with great performance and new contracts for thefuture, which leads to more jobs for all. ON the other hand Managers at my work, theydon’t get involved in decision-making, their job is strict to manage the daily fares of thecompany and paly a supportive role, that’s about it.No leadership opposition more likesupervision.Metacognition:Chapter 14 was full of valuable information. That I can correlate with, this chapteropened my eye to the idea that leadership is the key ingredient in the success of theorganization. The question is What does it take to become a successful leader? Not aneasy task right! Leaders have more responsibilities and challenges then a manager, Iintend to agree strongly regarding this matter. Our leader faces a critical decision thatcould impact generations of people, which could lead to chaos. The manager is not thesame as a leader for say, and leadership is more like persuasion and convincing others tobelieve in goals and ideas that give people future and hope.
