BRIEF DESCRTPTION OF ASSESSMENT: The Energy Company Ltd (“ECL”) is a private renewable energy company. Its chosen technology is gasification and a single gasifier can gasify 1.5 tonnes of pelletized RDF an hour. Two of the marketable outputs of the process are electricity and heat: The renewable power generation is for grid exporl and the heat production for use on its adjoining waste management site.
ECL are concemed to maximise energy generation through correct specification of the RDF as possible is generated from the RDF. Explain whal factors need to be considered to ensure optimum Calorific Value (CV) of the RDF.
To this end, yon are asked to produce a brieftechnical report that includes – an assessment of:the technical feasibility of the process, the production of energy and how the energy could be used/sold. – the econornic viability of such a scheme including any supporl mechanisms which may be available from the Government – an environmental assessment discussing how much CO2 emissions can be reduced together rvith any other relevant environmental issues
