Then read Jamaica Kincaid’s story, “Girl” (675), Bharati Mukherjee’s “The Management of Grief” (478), and Nathaniel Hawthorne’s “The Birth-Mark” (385). [Please note: in the interest of time we will not be reading “Gooseberries,” “A Pair of Tickets,” or “The House Asterion.”]
