To become competent therapists, it is vitally important to have a good knowledge of ourselves and how we would respond to different situations during the therapeutic relationship with a client. Starting from this premise:
1- Define the concepts of transference and countertransference, where these terms come from and who proposed them. Give concrete examples of when we are in the presence of each of them during the therapeutic process, both on the part of the client and the therapist.
2- Prepare a list of situations for which a therapeutic relationship would end. Then explain when the process of ending a therapeutic relationship begins and what precautions we as clinical social workers should take after the therapeutic relationship ends.
