The assignment for the individual paper is the following:

A populist party (right populist/left populist/green populist) achieved its best result ever at the recent elections, making it one of the largest political parties in the country. The party did so well in the elections largely because of its anti-establishment message and its promises to radically change existing institutions (governing institutions/policy
institutions). Knowing that voters like politicians who keep their promises, the party is eager to follow up on its campaign pledges. The party has therefore hired a consultancy firm to give advice on how to achieve its goal of institutional change. You are a junior associate at the consultancy and are given the task of designing a strategy for how to achieve institutional change.
The strategy paper should include the following elements:
1. A brief description of the status quo and of the goal that the party seeks to achieve. (20 % of paper)
2. A thorough analysis of the obstacles to changing the status quo in the direction desired by the party. This analysis should draw actively on at least two of the institutional theories discussed in the course and should include references to relevant academic literature (both readings from the course and other literature). (50 % of paper)
3. Concrete recommendations about how these obstacles can be overcome. These recommendations should build logically on the analysis of obstacles. (30 % of paper)
