Hello Class,

Sorry for the late post, I had taken sick but I’m back and present so let’s get into it!

When comparing data from different distributions, what is the benefit of transforming data from these distributions to conform to the standard distribution?

The benefit of transforming data from these distributions to conform to the standard distribution is not only for easier comparison, a common measurement, also the advantage of transforming data from different distributions to conform to the standard distribution is because standard deviation and the mean have fixed values (Tanner, 2016).

What role do z scores play in transforming data from multiple distributions to the standard normal distribution?

Z scores allow us to compute the probability of a variable or a score occurring in a normal distribution this also allows us to compare those scores as well. This can apply to things like test scores, game points, and predicting any probability.

What is the relationship between z scores and percentages?

Something that is pretty cool about z scores is that multiplying the result by 100 you can achieve the percentage.

Give an example of a variable likely to be normally distributed in the population and explain how z scores pertaining to that variable would be useful in a real-life situation.

Examples of this are test scores in a class, price range of homes in an area, eye color, height, and even predicting scores to a football game.

Best,

Zo

Hello All,

· When comparing data from different distributions, what is the benefit of transforming data from these distributions to conform to the standard distribution?

The benefit of transforming data from different distributions trying to conform to a standard distribution would be to make the distribution normal. And in doing so, this allows us to determine what percentage the data falls between in resolution.

· What role do z-scores play in transforming data from multiple distributions to the standard normal distribution?

Transforming Z-scores from multiple distributions to standard normal distributions allows the likelihood of using a standard normal table resulting in the ability to evaluate different expectations.

· What is the relationship between z-scores and percentages?

The relationship between a Z-score and a percentage is that if you understand the z-score, you can get the percentage to need to evaluate the data at hand.

· Give an example of a variable likely to be normally distributed in the population and explain how z-scores pertaining to that variable would be useful in a real-life situation.

An example of a variable that would likely be customarily distributed is IQ scores amongst adults. You would be able to formulate a z table or normal distribution graph to determine the percentage in IQ within adults of different ages and sex.
