Proposed Dissertation Topic and Aims
Below, please briefly describe the topic that you wish to explore in your
dissertation and what the aims of your research would be.
Remember, your proposed topic must align to your programme of study. If you
are taking International Marketing your proposal must focus to some extent on
an international aspect of marketing, and those on Marketing for the Creative
Industries there must be an element of your topic that relates to the
creative/cultural industries. MSc Marketing students can choose any topic in

Brief Literature Review: Identify key theories and
Authors
The aim of this section is to identify some ideas from the existing literature on
your chosen topic. This should include a critical discussion of key theories and
information that will inform you dissertation research. You should refer to at
least 10 journal articles to support your discussion (There is space for a
reference list later on in the form).

Proposed Research Question
Please state your proposed research question(s) and briefly note how answering
them will contribute to the existing literature (e.g. will they address a particular
gap? Do they add something new?).
Note: Typically a dissertation has one overall central research question,
followed by three to four sub-research questions. Typically a dissertation
