History of california

Thanks to the Civil Rights movement of the 1960s, America has largely defeated racism.  We are fulfilling Martin Luther Kings dream of being a nation where people will be judged not by the color of their skin, but by the quality of their character.  Californians were wise to do away with affirmative action and other policies that tied us to racism.
Do you agree or disagree with this interpretation of race relations in California today?  Please discuss various issues dealing with race since 1960 to the present.  Have we achieved a color blind society?  Do we still need policies to correct past injustices?
