What is your verdict on the Great Spruce Project?
There was a major afforestation effort in Britain during most of the 20th Century – very much of it of monocultural spruce plantations. The initial reasons were clear, but did the project continue for too long? Is coniferous afforestation returning – have lessons been learned?
