Second, unemployment is common in developing and undeveloped countries where people lack job opportunities. Unemployment translates to a lack of income to pay for basic needs such as housing. A relatable instance is that after Covid-19 hit the world, most companies were closed, and a good number left jobless. The rise in cases of homeless people lists among the global effects of Covid-19. Third, mental illness contributes largely to homelessness, especially in underdeveloped countries. Most people with mental disorders lack individual orientation to take care of fundamental aspects such as shelter. Substance use among young people is listed among the leading causes of homelessness. Most substances and drugs affect the ability to think and live everyday life. Some of the abusers waste finances on drugs, making it difficult to pay for their housing bills. The last cause that we will discuss is domestic violence which leads to the separation of families. A statistical survey in Africa showed that most street families comprised single mothers who ran from their marital homes due to domestic violence. In reference to the outlined causes, I believe that there is much to be done to rescue children from broken families and other victims from the cold streets as an organization. Solutions The most recommended solution to homelessness is ending poverty. In most undeveloped countries, poverty erupts from political and economic imbalances such as corruption. As a nonprofit organization, ending political clashes and corruption can significantly reduce poverty in developing countries. The second solution is to engage in the revision of policies related to human rights. Shelter lists among the essential commodities that humans should have the right to access. It is crucial to take activists’ positions and advocate fulfilling all human rights, including shelter, to end homelessness. The third solution is to provide health services to citizens from developing countries to reduce mental health deterioration. The health facilities should address the issue of mental complications resulting from unfitness and substance abuse. Fourthly, the creation of employment facilitates income generation for jobless individuals. Lastly, it is essential to engage the public in projects that focus on ending homelessness as an organization. The public should take part in building, funding, and running shelters meant to house the homeless members of society. Implementing the suggested solutions might not come easy due to possible challenges that can slow down the process. Anticipated Challenges Some of the challenges that we should prepare to face when ending homelessness are lack of finances, political barriers, and inadequate cooperation from external stakeholders. The suggested solutions require financial input, which may become a barrier, especially in developing and underdeveloped regions. The second challenge to anticipate is the political barrier where leaders are corrupt and barely invest resources in the poor. This might come up when creating employment, where most resources are wasted or directed to personal gain.
