Public Speaking: Description: At the beginning of the semester, I stated that regardless of what your career plans are, public speaking opportunities will most likely be a part of your future. For this assignment, students will write a 2-3 page reflection paper (Times New Roman, 1 inch margins, doublespaced) on their experience in this public speaking course and how they have grown as a speaker throughout the semester. Within our syllabus, there are 8 speech competencies provided (see below). I want each student to reflect on their own individual semester in public speaking and do the following: 1.) Pick 2-3 of the competencies that you believe you improved on this semester in our speech class. Explain why you think you improved on these and what helped with your improvements. What classroom activities (if any) facilitated the development of these competencies? 2.) Pick 2-3 of the competencies that you are still working on as the semester draws to a close. In future public speaking opportunities, how do you plan to improve on those competencies you feel that you struggle with the most? What classroom activities (if any) do you think could facilitate development of these competencies for my future courses? 3.) Lastly, I want you to reflect on which of your speeches you think helped you develop the most as a speaker and why. Please make sure that your submission is in essay format.
