Interview one K-Pop fan and ask them how and why they find meaningful connection to K-Pop. You can choose to speak to anyone you want, and the conversation can happen either in person or over the phone. While you’re free to branch off and ask any questions you want, you will want to ask the six questions below to help you gather some basic demographic information about your interviewee and get the conversation rolling. Your discussion can last as long as your participant is willing to speak, but it should run for at least 20-30 minutes. Also, it might help to record the conversation so you can review back on their answers. Once you are done with your interview, write 2-3 short paragraphs summarizing what you learned from your subject. Please also bullet point their responses to the questions below directly into your Google Doc. Required interview questions: 1. How old are you now and how old were you when you became a K-Pop fan? 2. What is your first language? What are your secondary languages? 3. What countries/cities have you lived in (1 year or more) in your life? What country were you residing in when you became a K-Pop fan? 4. Why do you describe yourself as a ‘fan?’ What distinguishes you from other everyday K-Pop enthusiasts? 5. Who is/are the object(s) of your fandom? Why do you feel connected to these performers? 6. What are all the ways you express your fandom? What practices, terms, objects are a regular part of how you connect to certain groups/idols? 7. Do you see your K-Pop fandom intersecting with your cultural identity in any way? If so, how?
