I need a controversial speech presentation and the topic is ‘Are Covid 19 vaccines safe?’ And my side in the presentation will be that all the vaccines are safe. Speech 3 Instructions/Checklist – Deliberation Persuasion Speech In this project, you will be working to explore a public problem and possible solutions to it. You should choose a problem that is controversial, relevant, and/or challenging, and at least partially, if not fully, solvable. Deliberation, as we will conceive of it for this project, is less about finding the ‘right’ answer and more about learning multiple perspectives about an issue and becoming informed decision-makers. Given that this is a persuasive project, you will choose one side of an argument that you believe is the ‘right’ side, but you still need to present both sides (and tell us why your side is right). Your speech should be structured in a problem-cause-solution format. Begin by identifying the problem and its causes. Then identify a possible solution to the problem, and advocate for it. Step 1. Select your topic – Select a relevant problem that you think should be fixed or solved. Step 2. Determine your purpose – You have a few options here; to convince your audience to think a certain way, or to persuade them to do something using a call to action. – Examples of this would be ‘the drinking age should be lowered to 18’ (thinking) versus ‘sign this petition to get the drinking age lowered in North Dakota to 18′ (call to action) Step 3. Gather supporting material – This is where you will do your research and gather your sources. This speech needs at least 3 sources. (The more the better — you want to be a credible deliberator here.) – You need to validate both the problem and the solution you propose. For example, you will need to cite why the drinking age being 21 isn’t appropriate. Then, find sources to support your argument of lowering it to 18 (examples of other countries who have done it, etc.). If you are unable to find sources for both parts, change your topic or solution, it’s not a strong enough argument. Step 4. Write your outline (Intro, Body, Conclusion) — See outline structure below Step 5. Think about your time limit. – The time limit for this speech is 4-6 minutes. Include important information where necessary. Step 6. Prepare visual aid A visual aid of some kind is required — I suggest a Power Point. Use it effectively to display visual information to persuade your audience (graphs, photos, charts, etc.) Step 7. Present your speech You should be dressed appropriately on your speech day. This is part of your overall grade. You may use notecards, but each group member should be extemporaneous in your speaking. Reading from your notecard excessively will not make your argument seem very strong. Record your speech and upload to YouTube as unlisted. Post the link to Blackboard and send the link to your peer evaluation partner.
