Johnson 4030 West Griswold Road Phoenix, AZ 85051 Dear Mr. Johnson, Thank you for voicing your frustration concerning your recently purchased ‘World’s Best Vanilla’ pint of ice cream. I personally apologize for the trouble this has caused you and would love to offer some explanation to help put your mind at ease. Here at Ben and Jerry’s, we strive to remain environmentally conscious in every possible way. Consequently, this has pushed us to change some of our packaging protocols within these last few months. The production of our previously white containers, bleached with chlorine, added dioxin contamination into local systems. This is incredibly dangerous for our environment. When the chlorine is removed, it leaves the interior brown in color instead of white. I can assure you that this new coloration in no way affects the quality of the product. I absolutely understand your confusion and apologize again for the inconvenience. Going forward, we plan to keep these brown colored containers in an attempt to heal our previous misstep. We are also launching a new page on our website further explaining our research. I invite you to check it out and to contact me directly if you have any other concerns or questions. Thank you for being a loyal Ben and Jerry’s customer, we deeply appreciate your feedback. Sincerely, Alexis Koch Alexis Koch Marketing Assistant February 13, 2022 Mr. Adam W. Johnson, 4030 West Griswold Road, Phoenix, AZ 85051 Dear Mr. Johnson, Thank you for reaching out to Ben and Jerry’s customer service. I am very sorry about the inconvenience. I understand how troubling it may seem to see brown on the inside of your vanilla ice cream pint, but I assure you the pint was not reused. At Ben and Jerry’s, we pride ourselves as being environmentally friendly. Since we are being environmentally cautious, we decided to go cleaner with our containers that were unbleached and chlorine free. The downfall to using the unbleached and chlorine free containers is that the interior of the pints are brown. That is why you had some brown on the inside of your container. We can fully refund your ice cream purchase. Ben and Jerry’s hopes that this resolves the issue because we do not want to lose a loyal customer as yourself. If there are anymore questions or concerns, do not hesitate to reach out again.
