Business Information Systems Discussion 4

MIS for Life: Module 7 A Connected World A career in technology, particularly Internet technology, will require constant learning. It is not just new technologies, but even existing ones evolve such that standards may change even while you are learning them! An excellent example is web presentation technologies. From the humble beginnings of HTML Version 1.0, the richness of the media that we are able to consume online has continued to increase. How do we keep up with the constant change? One way is to find helpful websites that are being actively maintained and enhanced. For those that prefer to learn by experimenting, a “REPL” site is particularly useful. REPL was popularized by the programming language Python and stands for Read, Evaluate, Print, Loop. Essentially, it is a type of scratchpad that allows you to learn new languages by experimentation by providing a simplified development environment in the browser. There are many free sites that provide this functionality but two good ones are quackit.com and replit.com. Explore the sites above and take note of any helpful developer resources that you see. Don’t rush through the review, both sites have great resources, particularly replit.com. Also, be sure to spend some time experimenting with the HTML scratchpad functionality they support. Using the HTML scratchpad, write a summary post about a helpful resource that you found on the site. Be creative and explore ways to make your post stand out using HTML and CSS. When finished, copy and paste your post, (HTML included). Your post should be minimum of 100 words not counting any HTML or CSS source.
