There are more than 300,000 species of plants that have been identified thus far in the world today; many new species are being discovered each year. In addition to providing most of the oxygen for land animals, plants do many other things for us. For Week 2, after you have completed the readings (Chapters 18-21) you will research the Internet and use reliable and credible scientific websites to investigate a specific plant species and choose a way (other than providing oxygen) that plants are useful to humans.

The Week 2 Assignment – Diversity of PlantsBlogis worth a potential total maximum of100 pointsand there are two components: (1)Part 1: your initialblogpost, 150 words minimum, discussinga credible and reliable, scientific website (10 points maximum) that augments what you have already learned about that specific plant species. The initialblogpost will be scored on topic (10 points), grammar and spelling (10 points), content and discussion of the specific plant species (40 points maximum), submitted on a different day than Part 2 (5 points) and meeting the minimumblogpost length of 150 words (5 points)
