Athletes foot is among the most common infections that affect peoples feet. It is caused
by a type of fungi known as dermatophytes (Gupta et al., 2018). Notably, this fungal infection is
contagious and can spread to different parts of a persons foot. It mostly affects athletes because
the fungus thrives in warm and moist places such as shoes or public amenities like showers.
Some of the symptoms of Athletes foot include itching on the affected area, blisters, redness,
and skin discoloration. If affected, it is recommended that one should visit a doctor because the
fungus may sometimes be difficult to cure. Prescription for treatment involves over-the-counter
antifungal medication.
