Purpose: After completing this assignment the student will have a better understanding of how the individual is impacted by family policy through the different spheres of life with which they engage. They will also have a better understanding of how their community and family structure is impacted by the family policies implemented by and through their local, state and federal government.
Instructions: Look at Figure 5.1 (Bogenschneider, 2024) representing Brofenbrenners Ecology of Human Development and read the article E», Darling, Nancy. (2007). Ecological systems theory: The person in the center of the circles. Research in Human Development. 4(3-4), 203-217.
For this assignment you need to create your own personal diagram of the different spheres (Macro, Exo, Meso, Micro) represented in his theory using your own life and the values (both personal and social) that motivate your engagement with the people, programs, institutions and organizations represented in your diagram.
For each sphere (Macro, Exo, Meso, Micro), you will need to provide an explanation that motivates your engagement in these units/programs/community/institutions.
The values can be listed and explained within the diagram you create or you can write a supplemental brief 1 page paper.
This will give you a great idea how much family policy in each of these spheres has an impact on you. Be creative. You may use crayons, or colored pencils or any software that might help you draw this. You can take a picture and/or upload your diagram once complete.
