You should write at least a paragraph (about 250 words), but there is no maximum length or topic requirement; you can ask or answer a question, link to something relevant to the class (with some explanation of why you find it interesting), make a connection between something youve encountered in class and something youve experienced, or anything else that relates to the class material.
Do not summarize the readings; assume everyone has done them. Instead, you should discuss, evaluate, or build on the readings in some way. In your post you must mention both required weekly readings (you may also mention any optional readings listed for that week
1. In Reading 1, identify and briefly summarize (in 1-2 sentences) 1 example of social agency that youth took in response to an inequity that deeply affected them. Do you think their actions were effective? Why or why not?
2. In Reading 2, what do you think/how do you feel about the focus the authors place on “affect” (emotions) in the learning contexts they discuss? Why might it be important to pay attention to emotions when trying to create more equitable learning environments? What are your thoughts about the authors’ claim that affect is intimately connected to agency?
3. Connect the readings to your own life experience in some way. Have you faced similar or different inequities in your own educational contexts? Have you ever taken agentive action to stand up against educational policies that weren’t working for you?
4. As always, you are welcome to disregard these prompts and write your own response. You are also welcome to handwrite these in a journal/notebook and upload an image, and additionally include drawings/sketches, other forms of response as well.
